During the online meeting of Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta (Sagip party-list), Deputy Majority Leader Jesus Remulla (Cavite) and Rep. Michael Defensor (Anakal Health party-list), they talked about the possible charges against ABS-CBN.
One of the things they discussed was to revoke the Kapamilya Network's property. It is also proposed that the station will be fine the amount of P1.97 trillion.
According to Congressman Marcoleta, the land where ABS-CBN headquarter is located in Mother Ignacia Street Quezon City does not belong to the Lopez Family.
Abs-cbn's reason for not showing the original land title is because it is in "reconstitution". But Congressman Marcoleta insisted that the title was only doctored and that is the reason why the station can't show it.
"Yung titulo ang unahin natin. Para makuha natin agad iyon. Kasi sa lupa, wala silang mabubuhat doon. Lahat ng chattels at improvements ay pag-aari na ng gobyerno. Sapagkat ang lupa ay sa gobyerno. Kapag tinake-over iyon madali silang makakapag-programa doon,” said Congressman Marcoleta.
This July, the congress rejected Abs-cbn's application for a new franchise. Some of the legislators' basis were the station's questionable labor practices. The congressmen also saw the Tax Avoidance Scheme of the Kapamilya network.
ABS-CBN Chairman Emeritus Eugenio Lopez III's dual citizenship was also raised at congressional hearings.
